5 Thanksgiving Books for Kids

As a parent, I often times find it difficult to explain things in a way my children will completely understand. Holiday’s are one of those times for some reason. I can explain the historical aspects, but not so well on a child’s level of understanding, if that makes sense. I tend to look for books that can help with this. Between the wording and the pictures, I find that it seems to click for them. I’m just so glad that the authors decided to focus on the layout of the books, as well as carefully selecting their font so that it is more acceptable to a younger audience. Book Layout, I find, is very important in a book, and could greatly affect its success if it’s not done right. Luckily, these books that I’ve found don’t have this problem and I can’t wait to share them with you all.

Thanksgiving is about more than just eating, but try to explain that to a 3 year old boy! Bunbun more/less understands now. My little guy however, just wants to eat everything on the table!

7 Great Gifts for Dad this Father's Day

Do you have trouble finding the perfect gift for Dad every year? Are you tired of giving slippers and T-shirts? I swear, it’s like climbing Mt. Everest every year as I search high and low for the perfect gift. I want to get him cool stuff that I know he’ll love but he doesn’t even make it easy for me. I see gadgets and widgets all over and he’s always interested but he can never make his mind up about what he wants! go from store to store and to the mall at least twice. I’ve let the kids choose my Hubby’s gift for the past two years and we’ve ended up with slippers each time and a screwdriver last year, if I’m not mistaken. So, this year, we’ve decided to make a change. Every man is different, mine likes gadgets and cool new tech things, whereas my friend’s partner is more into toy models and puzzles where one year they even chose to turn a picture into a puzzle as a more personal gift for him! It looked so cool and was perfect for him. Another friend of mine uses overstock.getyourcouponcodes.com to find good deals and she suggested looking at coupons for some inspiration. Since then, I use coupons all of the time and use several sites to find the latest deals and get the best savings.

Butterfly Clothespin Craft for Kids and Orkin Mosquito Summer Scientist Giveaway

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Orkin. All opinions and views are my own.

Butterfly-Clothespin-Craft-01

Summer is almost here! It’s so close, I can smell it and Bunbun and I are counting down the days. It’s been a rather rough school year and both of us are just about ready for it to be done. With that said, we’re ready for some fun and new beginnings. Summer for us brings lots of friends, crafts, swimming, BBQ’s, soccer training camp and lots of outdoor fun!

The one thing that always seems to get us in the summer is mosquitoes! They are annoying little creatures that seem to always find us. Bunbun has some pretty bad reactions to mosquito bites so we always have to be on top of the situation.  Fortunately, the experts at Orkin study the science of mosquitoes and other pests closely in order to better tailor plans that help keep them out of our homes this summer.Continue Reading

Easy Clothespin Princess Dolls

Summer has been quite the struggle (insert sigh). We ended up keeping Bunbun home and ditching the camp this year. It’s really been great having both kids home and spending time with them, but it’s been super difficult to keep her busy. My little guy is so easy going for being only three. He will find something to keep himself busy in any situation; Bunbun always wants something to do. A craft, a game, a movie, swimming…something! She just has to be busy. She loves to collect things and is currently into the Shopkins craze, which is probably going to make me broke very soon.

Birthday Chalkboard Sign Template and Tutorial

Chalkboard signs have been all the craze lately. You literally see them in every cake smash and birthday milestone photo sessions. And most recently; baby showers, engagements and even wedding receptions. They can get pretty expensive to purchase online due to the customization, but it’s actually super easy to make your own.

Perler Bead Bowl Craft

Perler Beads. Most of us have them. They only bother me when I step on a straggler every now and again. Otherwise, they have been pretty good to me. If I need to get something done or need a few minutes of peace and quiet, I whip out the Perler Beads. They allow my little ones to be creative and create their own masterpieces. I am always amazed at their concentration level every single time!

This craft is so simple that anyone can pretty much make it. We have buckets of Perler Beads (yes, buckets) and they’re fairly inexpensive so this is something you can do time and time again, without breaking the bank.

Strawberry Lemonade Popsicles

Now that summer is here, we need to beat the Florida heat and stay cool and refreshed. So this week, I broke out the popsicle molds! Of course the kids were excited and totally watching the clock, waiting for their chance at one of my strawberry lemonade popsicles.

We used to buy store-bought popsicles, but the amount of sugar, high-fructose corn syrup and dyes really bothered us. We do our best to only eat organics and shop exclusively at Whole Foods. Don’t get me wrong, there are many conventional items we still purchase from time to time, but mostly everything in our home is Organic and GMO Free. Just like these popsicles!
