5 Thanksgiving Books for Kids

As a parent, I often times find it difficult to explain things in a way my children will completely understand. Holiday’s are one of those times for some reason. I can explain the historical aspects, but not so well on a child’s level of understanding, if that makes sense. I tend to look for books that can help with this. Between the wording and the pictures, I find that it seems to click for them. I’m just so glad that the authors decided to focus on the layout of the books, as well as carefully selecting their font so that it is more acceptable to a younger audience. Book Layout, I find, is very important in a book, and could greatly affect its success if it’s not done right. Luckily, these books that I’ve found don’t have this problem and I can’t wait to share them with you all.

Thanksgiving is about more than just eating, but try to explain that to a 3 year old boy! Bunbun more/less understands now. My little guy however, just wants to eat everything on the table!

Making Memories with Dad and Gillette® Mach3® Signature Edition Razor

This post is sponsored by Vocalpoint, P&G and Gillette. All opinions are my own.

Making-Memories-with-Dad-01One thing that always gets me is seeing Dad’s out with their children. It’s not very often that I see this, but when I do, it genuinely warms my heart. I truly believe that children need their fathers, so seeing them out having ice cream, walking in the park or shopping makes me so happy inside. I realize how lucky I am to have a husband who is so involved with our children. Although he works crazy hours, he always finds time to spend with the kids. And the best part? The kids are totally infatuated with him.Continue Reading

DIY-Graham-Cracker-Princess-Castle-01

Ever since I can remember, Honey Maid Graham Cracker Houses have been a long time tradition for my family. I have so many fond memories of time well-spent with my grandparents and cousins. So when Bunbun was finally old enough to start making her own, I continued the tradition and my son is just about old enough to help now too!

Whether it’s building a princess castle like I’ll be sharing with you today, or a Dragon’s lair, Honey Maid graham cracker houses are a fun activity to do year-round and aren’t just for the Holidays. There are so many different things you can build and the possibilities are endless. You just have to use your imagination. Ask your little ones what they’d like to build. You’ll be surprised at their responses, but let them try!

Building is great for children. It allows them to explore with their creativity, increases motor skills, hand-eye coordination, social skills and even language skills. Building graham cracker houses is not only stimulating, but rewarding as well once they see the final result of their creations. So go grab your kids, family and/or friends and let’s build a princess castle!Continue Reading

Netflix Kids Picks: March

Is it Spring Break yet? I have been non-stop since the last vacation and am so ready to plop myself on the couch in front of the TV for a week. And if not that, I’m seriously considering hibernation. The littles have been quite busy as well. This past weekend, we attended a local STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) event and it was so much fun! Bunbun visited the NOAA booth and took on the challenge of building a buoy that could float on water and hold golf balls. At only 6 years old, she amazes me in everything she does. She built a buoy out of PVC, attached a Frisbee on top and it floated with 36 golf balls!!! She won a medal for creating a buoy that held the most golf balls and was so proud of herself. I can’t wait to see which career path she chooses later in life. Okay, wait. Maybe I can…

Netflix Kids Picks: December

Well, “winter” break is officially here for Bunbun. I’m quite not sure why they call it that here in South Florida because we don’t get much of a winter, if at all. Unless you count the two days in February where you wake up to 50-degree weather and its 75 by Noon. Either way, it means two full weeks of having my babies home with me every day and I am ecstatic! My hubby will be taking most of the break off from work to be with us which is always great because family time is so important to us.

Netflix Kids Picks: Halloween

My little monsters have been quite busy this month! They scoped out the Netflix scene early and quickly began watching Halloween movies. The Buddies series of movies by Disney is one of Bunbun’s favorites and she was quite pleased to find Spooky Buddies in their lineup. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a family tradition of ours. We pop popcorn, grab all of our pillows, a few blankets and cuddle up on the couch. This year, we introduced the kids to The Addams Family, forgetting the content. It may not have been the wisest decision considering their ages, but my hubby and I got a little nostalgic as it reminded us of our childhood.
