Cookies & Cream Donuts

Aug 23

I can’t get enough of Oreos!!! They are definitely one of my weaknesses when it comes to sweets and I don’t have the willpower to say no to all of their deliciousness. Last month, I posted a recipe for Cookies & Cream Cupcakes which received quite a response. So, I am back this month with a new recipe for you to enjoy.

Easy Monkey Bread

Aug 10

A few days ago, I woke up and decided I was going to cook and bake all day. I’m not sure what lit the fire under me, but it turned out to be an extremely productive day. Aside from my Blueberry Cobbler, this super Easy Monkey Bread was in the oven.

This Monkey Bread smells and tastes just as good as it looks. Lots of sweet, ooey gooey goodness and love went into this one. It is made with Pillsbury biscuits, chopped walnuts, raisins and has the perfect cinnamon to sugar ratio. I could honestly eat the whole thing in one sitting if I knew I wouldn’t suffer the consequences on the bathroom scale the following morning.

Fresh Strawberry Zevia Cupcakes

Jul 21

My good friend over at Young at Heart Mommy told me about Zevia a few weeks ago. So, I decided to give it a try and I was amazed at how great it tasted. We are loyal Whole Foods shoppers so I was excited when I found it on one of my most recent shops. I purchased a few 6 packs and decided to see what our friends thought at Bunbun’s Birthday Party. Since then, I have only been drinking Zevia when I am craving those crisp, refreshing bubbles of carbonation. What makes it even better is that it is GMO free, clear of any coloring, all natural, zero calories, no artificial sweeteners, and the best one….NO SUGAR! Which means I don’t have to say no when Bunbun or my little guy ask for some. Total Win!

Star Spangled Apple Pie Cake

Jul 04

Every year, a few days before July 4th, the neighbors line their front yards with American Flags. Which is funny, because in all the years of watching them do it, we’ve never once thought about doing the same. So perhaps next year I’ll take a look at something like these fiberglass flagpoles and hang our flag high in the yard too! We invite friends over, cook out back, the kids swim in the pool and we light and watch the fireworks above. It’s always a great day! And for me, a beautiful reminder of my Grandfather. He passed on when I was a little girl, but I will never forget how much he loved this country and July 4th was his favorite holiday. I think Christmas was a close second though…

I’ll always remember the block parties, the sound of country music, the taste of the iced tea and the delightful smell of fresh baked apple pie. Oh gosh, those days were the best! Especially when they were spent on the lake with the boats, jetski’s and fishing poles. The days were warm and the nights were long. Those were some of the best days of my childhood.
